so i finished watching benjamin button today and even though everyone thinks it was so weird and didn’t really liked it, i have a much different opinion of the movie. i absolutely loved it and thought it was one of the most interesting movies i’ve ever seen. theres so much meaning to the movie that i feel like people overlook when they watch it. its so much more than a man aging in reverse and falling in love, and after i analyzed the movie i thought it was so well written and quite beautiful. the main character, benjamin button, ages in reverse.. so he is an old man when he is born and eventually is a baby when he dies, while he’s soulmate Daisy ages normally. this couple meets when daisy visits her grandma, and even though daisy is young at the time and benjamin is old looking, you can tell they have a strange connection that people just don’t understand. although they both live different lives away from each other and age in the opposite direction of each other, they eventually find each other and are together. the love they shared while they were together looked like romanic true love, and it put a smile on my face. when daisy got pregnant, benjamin was with her throughout the whole pregnancy but left her when she had her child. while some people might think that was a selfish disgusting thing for him to do, i thought it was amazing and selfless actually. the true meaning of love is wanting the best for the other person, and benjamin (knowing he would age in reverse back to a young boy) wanted the best for his family and wanted his daughter to have a stable father so he left even though he loved them so much. he gave up his life so that they could have the best life possible, and thats absolutely selfless and beautiful. then later when benjamin starts to get younger, he starts to forget who he is and who everyone else is because he is just a boy, and although daisy is an older women, she takes care of benjamin until the day he takes his last breath, even though he did not remember her. it shows how much she truly loved him, no matter what state he was in. this movie showed the unconditional love that two people shared despite their very hard circumstances, and how they showed their true selfless love for each other. i thought it was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. thats what i want. i want to love someone unconditionally and forever, and i want them to love me just as much back. the love that benjamin and daisy shared was real, and was absolutely beautiful.
